Greg grew up in a family of six. After leaving Pittsburgh when Greg was 4 years old, The Hazard family settled in Columbus, OH before relocating to Cleveland in 1988, where his parents still live. Growing up making annual trips to the Indianapolis 500 with his family and helping his uncle at amateur race events, Greg embraced a keen interest in motorsports; which would eventually lead him to the beginning of his professional career.
Attending Bowling Green State University with a major in Mechanical Design, Greg stayed busy as student president of Bowling Green’s collegiate motorsports team and as an active member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, where he met Chris and Todd.
After graduation, Greg moved to Indianapolis where he and Chris were roommates. There he accepted a job with Motorsports Spares International; starting as a damper specialist working with teams in the INDYCAR, ChampCar and GrandAm, and reaching the General Manager position in late 2004. Greg married his high school sweetheart Jodi and together they are enjoying life with their twin boys, Alex and Charlie. When not working, Greg enjoys golf, woodowrking, astronomy, and just being at home.
“Chris’ accident was a reminder to us all of how quickly our perspective in life can change. When we formed the BrotherBentlage Fund shortly after the accident we only wanted to help; to make the list of things Chris and his family had to worry about just a little shorter. In contrast, we learned that the real benefit was measured by the act itself and not by the money raised. When we decided to stop fundraising for the BrotherBentlage Fund we felt a responsibility not to stop the cause itself. We were thrilled when Doug agreed to be involved from the beginning and we are grateful for his invaluable insight and guidance.”
